Coaching

In my med tech job, I had to communicate and teach both staff and surgeons how to use the equipment. It took a lot of patience and I was always told how my calm presence really helped people learn and grow.

I am certified as a coach through EverCoach as well as taking high-performance classes through Brendan Burchard’s coaching program.

I have been a member of EVRYMAN, a men’s lifestyle organization for the past three years and have been in a men’s group for that entire time deepening my understanding of somatic healing and connecting with other men on an authentic and vulnerable level.

I have also taken several communication courses with my wife because we all know communication is the key to a happy and healthy family. That leads me to my seven amazing kids. We are a blended family and I know how hard it is to balance work, family, and raising children but we seem to have found the right path, hence my desire to be a coach for #BusyDads.

What Is Coaching

I’m often asked, ‘What is the difference between coaching and therapy?’ In short, therapy focuses on the past, and coaching focuses on the future. In practice, coaching is an empowering process where the coach asks empowering questions and provides a safe space, so people can discover their own creative solutions. In coaching we work on mining your values, discovering your life purpose, and naming your inner allies -creating a solid foundation for a client to connect with and build from. We also challenge our clients (ex: How would it feel to make that decision by Friday?) and give homework for clients to work on and bring to our next session (ex: Come up with five qualities you are looking for in a partner and a list of non-negotiables.) The whole idea is to get people to consider their situation and come to resolutions on their own. It’s all about getting ‘unstuck’. Scenarios where people may seek a life coach can include: coming out, coupling, uncoupling, starting a career, ending a job, choosing a new career / second career/side hustle, medical diagnosis, or loss of a friend or family member. Remember, you don’t NEED coaching, but do you WANT coaching? Someone to hold you accountable, help you set goals, and quite simply, someone to help you change your life?
